For example, if you have an old XP desktop and have just purchased a new Vista laptop. It is possible to move the entire Windows XP environment to the newer machine. You could then launch your old copy of XP with by simply double clicking an icon just like you would with any other application.

Alternatively, a dual boot system would allow you to use which ever operating system you need, but only one at a time.
